Video Automation

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we are asked most often. If yours is missing, write to us at info@my-video-automation.com.

Is Video Automation compatible with Upload-Post?

Yes. Besides our own REST API v1, we offer an interface with the same endpoints and fields as Upload-Post, for example POST /api/upload, /api/uploadposts/users and /api/uploadposts/schedule. To switch, change the base URL to https://my-video-automation.com/api and put your new API key in the header Authorization: Apikey YOUR_KEY. You create your profiles with us and connect the accounts once more, because access tokens cannot be moved from one provider to another. Upload-Post features beyond publishing, such as comments, direct messages or analytics, are not part of our product. Details are in the API documentation.

Which platforms are supported?

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, LinkedIn (profiles and company pages), Pinterest, X and Bluesky. You can publish videos on all of them. Images also work on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X and Bluesky, and text-only posts on Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, X and Bluesky. We use only the platforms' official APIs, no browser automation and no stored passwords.

Can I publish publicly on every platform right away?

Not necessarily. Several platforms review an app like Video Automation before they allow public posts for any user. Until then, restrictions apply:

Platform Review by the platform What applies until approval
YouTube Google OAuth verification, plus an audit for more than 100 uploads a day Warning screen at sign-in and at most 100 users; shared daily quota
TikTok App review and audit for direct posting Posts are private (visible only to you), the account must be set to private when posting, at most 5 users in 24 hours. Uploading as a draft to the TikTok inbox works.
Instagram, Facebook, Threads Meta App Review and business verification Only accounts registered with us as testers
LinkedIn Profiles: none. Company pages: approval of the Community Management API Company pages only after approval
Pinterest Approval for standard access Pins are visible only to you
X none –
Bluesky none –

We update this table with the current status for Video Automation whenever it changes. We tell you openly when a platform has not approved us yet, instead of quietly publishing posts as private.

Where is my data stored?

On our own servers in a STRATO GmbH data centre in Berlin, Germany. The database is PostgreSQL on the same servers. E-mails are sent through IONOS in Germany, payments run through Stripe. Platform access tokens are stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM. More in the privacy policy.

How long do you keep my videos?

Only as long as needed, and no longer than your plan's retention period: 3 days in the trial, 7 days on Starter, 14 days on Pro, 30 days on Business and 90 days on Agency. After that, files are deleted automatically. Until then, a file is reachable at an unguessable, signed URL, because Instagram, Facebook and Threads fetch videos from a URL. Always keep your originals yourself.

What counts as an upload?

One upload is one post to one connected account. If you publish a video to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram at the same time, that is three uploads. Uploads are counted when the post is created; if you delete a scheduled post before it is published, you get the uploads back. The allowance applies per calendar month. You can find each plan's allowance on the pricing page.

How does the trial work?

You test for 14 days free of charge, without a payment method, with 2 profiles and 50 uploads. The API is included in the trial. If you do not book a plan afterwards, the trial ends automatically and nothing is charged.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Monthly plans are cancelled in the app at the end of the current month, yearly plans at the end of the year. You can keep using the plan until then. You can export your data as a JSON file beforehand, and you can delete your workspace immediately at any time.

What are the API limits?

The API is included in every plan. Depending on the plan, you can make 30 (trial), 60 (Starter), 120 (Pro), 300 (Business) or 600 (Agency) requests per minute. Every response contains the headers X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset; if you exceed the limit, the API answers with status 429. The platforms' own limits apply on top, for example a maximum number of posts per account and day.

How many videos can I upload to YouTube per day?

Since June 2026, YouTube gives every app its own daily quota for video uploads, by default 100 uploads per day for the whole app, i.e. for all users together. More is only available after an audit by YouTube. When the quota for a day is used up, YouTube rejects further uploads until the next day; you see this as an error on the post and can reschedule it. YouTube can also limit individual channels. More in the article Schedule YouTube Shorts automatically.

How large can files be?

With us up to 500 MB in the trial, 2 GB on Starter and 4 GB from Pro. The platforms' limits apply on top, for example at most 4 GB and the video length allowed for your account on TikTok, 300 MB for Instagram Reels, 1 GB on Threads and 500 MB on LinkedIn. On TikTok we check the length allowed for your account before every post. If a platform rejects a file, you see its error message on the post.

Does Video Automation work with n8n or Make?

Yes. Any tool that can send HTTP requests with multipart/form-data works, for example the HTTP Request node in n8n or the HTTP module in Make. If you have already built workflows for Upload-Post, you only swap the URL and the API key. A walkthrough is in the article Publish videos with n8n.

How do I know whether a post was published?

In the app you see the status and URL of every post in the history. Through the API you query the status with request_id or job_id. Webhooks are more convenient: we send you a message as soon as a post has been published or has failed. Every message is signed with HMAC-SHA256; if your server cannot accept it, we retry up to 6 times.

What are connect links?

With a connect link, your customers connect their own social media accounts to a profile in your workspace without needing a Video Automation account. You create the link in the app or through the API and send it to your customer. From the Pro plan, the connect page shows your name and logo (white label). The platforms' own sign-in pages still show the name of our app.

Do I need my own developer access at the platforms?

No. You connect your accounts through our apps registered with the platforms. You sign in on the platform's own page; we never see your password. Only for Bluesky do you create an app password.

How do I label AI-generated videos?

Set the field is_ai_generated=true when uploading. We pass the label on to TikTok (AI-generated content) and YouTube (altered or synthetic content); for X there is the field made_with_ai. On platforms without a dedicated field, label the content in the text. Whether labelling is required is your decision under the platform's rules and applicable law.

Is there a data processing agreement?

Yes, in every plan, including the trial. The data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is part of our terms and lists all sub-processors. Our servers and sub-processors are in Germany.

How do I remove a connected account and my data?

In the app under Accounts with "Disconnect". We delete the tokens immediately and revoke them at the platform. All other ways, including for people without access to the app, are described on the data deletion page.
